UPDATE: This car is currently SOLD. Please check this page for further information.
In 1999, when I was originally looking to purchase an MR2 Turbo I convinced myself that I wanted a 1994 or 1995 model year car, for no better reason than I preferred the rear taillight design and that the cars were somewhat rarer - there were less than 100 MR2s imported to the USA during 1995. However, after scouring all the classified ads I could find on the Internet for several months I only ever found one 94/95T for sale - an overpriced car in California that was being sold by a woman who could never give me a straight answer about holding the car for me. So I re-thought my plans slightly and started looking for a 93 Turbo. I'm glad I did, because I couldn't be happer with the white 1993 MR2 Turbo I ended up purchasing.
Fast-forward to 2002. I happened to be browsing the various Usenet newsgroups to which I susbscribe when I read this message in the alt.autos.toyota newsgroup:
Subject: clean clean 1995 MR2 Turbo for sale
63k miles, Red, loaded
I also noticed that it was posted less than 30 minutes ago. It turns out the seller was located only one hour's drive from me, which is very unusual. I ended up driving more than 700 miles for my 93T. I contacted the seller and viewed and test drove the car two days later. The next day, it was in my garage :-)
The car is in generally very good shape. The only modifications are the TRD decals behind each front wheel. There are a fair number of small stone chips in the paint on the front hood but the dreaded paint fade problems that seem to afflict red MR2s do not seem to be present at all for this car. Maybe it was just the old mk1 MR2s that suffered this problem?
